Do you have a jean pattern, but it feels overwhelming and you don't know where to get started? You're in luck, because in this tutorial we take you every step of the way. Your jeans may be in pieces now but, in the end, we'll show you how to put those pieces together and end up with a pair of jeans that you can wear and be proud of. We cover sewing front pockets, a zippered fly, back yokes, adding a waistband and belt loops. We also cover edge stitching and top stitching so that your jeans will look just as professional as ready-to-wear jeans. You can do it. You just need to take it one step at a time.
In this tutorial, I'm using my pattern pieces created from How to Make Patterns from Existing Clothing - Jeans - Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3. You can use this series to create pattern pieces from an existing pair of jeans without having to take it apart. Or you may have an existing commercial pattern for a pair of jeans. Just realize that your jeans may be slightly different than mine. I tried to choose a pair that had many of the basic elements that are common in jeans. Even if yours are not exactly the same as mine, I hope you will still find it helpful in the assembly of your own pair.
Thank you so much. This was so so so so helpful.
I need to make jeans for my husband and I can not find any how-to videos online. I came across your website several years ago and will happily pay for the premium video of Jean Assembly after making my own patterns from your making patterns from existing clothing video. These videos are simply, easy to understand and make something that seems so complicated much easier to accomplish. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Thank you so much! It really made my day to hear you say this and I’m so glad that you have found our tutorials helpful 😀
