Ok, let's see a show of hands. How many of us keep up with our sewing machine maintenance as often as we should? How many of us don't even know how often the sewing machine should get cleaned? How many of us have never had the sewing machine cleaned? Good news, none of us can actually see your hand so we can all stop being embarrassed. I'm embarrassed myself but my hobby is sewing, not cleaning. Cleaning is a necessary evil and, frankly, it's boring. Like cutting, I don't have a lot of patience for cleaning because I just want to get to the good stuff.
Here's some more good news for both of us. Cleaning your machine is a pretty quick and harmless chore. Between cleaning my sewing machine or washing dishes, I choose the machine. Not that I won't do dishes, but doing dishes never got me a cute dress. Based on that, I guess the machine deserves a little loving every now and then. In our video tutorial on sewing machine maintenance, I'll show you a few simple steps you can take in order to keep your machine clean so that it continues to run smoothly and help you churn out cute things, like dresses. Don't worry, we won't be taking the whole machine apart. We'll leave that to the professionals. We just have to continue to make this our yearly resolution and professionals can keep their judge-y questions to themselves.
