Top too short

I mde this top last year & it is still sitting in my closet. The bottom comes just above the belly button. Forgot about having a high waist. I would like to add a piece to it that gently flares out. Hope you can help. Thanks!

hmmm…the best way to disguise this is by adding an extra panel, maybe make it a contrasting color. To make your pattern, take the existing pattern and tape it some paper. Redraw the current hemline then slide the pattern down for whatever length you want to extend it by an redraw the bottom of the pattern. If you it to flare out more, you can add 1″ (or more but it’s good to start with 1″) to the new hemline at the side seam and blend this line to the old hemline. This will be your new pattern for a separate extension to your top. Don’t forget to add seam allowance where needed! I hope it works out so you can finally turn your EFO into something you can wear. 🙂
