I’m making surgical masks for hospitals and other healthcare groups. I hadn’t used my sewing machine in a few years. It started out OK, but I noticed that the tread is popping off the top thread guide more frequently. This wasn’t a problem when I was using the machine more regularly a few years ago. Someone suggested that the tension was set too tight. I loosened it, but the problem persisted (also the bobbin thread was bumpy).
hmmm…because you haven’t used the machine in a few years, it could be caused due to needing a cleaning and maintenance. Even if the machine is not being used, this should be done once a year just because it can still get dust inside of the machine. Some thread tension issues are caused by dust inside the machine.
