morning professor , question i have an old dress pattern that fits very well, i have to do 2 princess seam style bodices for work that i have to sew can i trace over the bodice of that dress and use that as my pattern , but my issue is ive put on a little weight my measurements are bust 44 hips 49 and waist 40 n a half , do u think i can just add ease accordingly at the side seam or slash and spread method instead to add a little ease .or should i draft a new bodice pattern. thank you for ur reply..

You could try either of those methods. Another idea is doing pattern grading, which is taking an existing pattern and grading it up a size (or down a size). The method is very similar to slash and spread. We don’t have a tutorial but there’s a very good article on it here: http://www.threadsmagazine.com/item/4368/making-sense-of-pattern-grading/page/all
