    Hi Prof Pincushion,
I am making a tunic for a gentlemen who is a size 4x. I have the patterns largest dimensions at 3x. Which method would be better-slash and spread or the pivot method?
The largest measurement is around the belly-about 70 inches.

If it were me, I would do the slash and spread method. I think you would get better results in this particular case.

Also, it sounds like what you want to do is pattern grading which is taking a pattern and grading it up to the next size instead of just altering 1 section of a pattern. We don’t have a tutorial but there’s a pretty good article on it here: http://www.threadsmagazine.com/item/4368/making-sense-of-pattern-grading/page/all
