My daughter and I are learning to sew and are finally starting to work on making a dress following a pattern. The pattern she chose uses lace as the main material and then a lining underneath. My question is: how do I mark the lace material according to the directions for things like darts? None of the marking tools or markers make a line on this material. Thanks!

you might have to go old-school and hand sew the markings in contrasting thread. As someone who has taken a lot of short-cuts, it’s DEFINITELY worth getting your markings right. If the lace and lining are sewn together as one fabric, not separate, you can just baste them together right away and make your markings on the lining

I would recommend tailor’s tacks which is a form of thread markings……maybe try an online search or utube may have a video for that.
