Lengthen and shorting

Hi, how do you shorten and lengthen on a commercial pattern. I know I could just cut on the lines but I want to keep it in one piece, any help would be appreciated. Tony

If you don’t want to cut, you can redraw the patterns by tracing part way around, then sliding (either up or down to shorten or lengthen) and finish drawing around the pattern. It’s a little more time consuming but you’ll get the original pattern in its original shape. You can do this on tissue paper.
