Professor, have you ever enlarged a knit pattern to make something out of cotton?

I haven’t but there are a few things to consider. First, you’ll definitely have to increase it to include ease as knit fabric usually doesn’t need much. To play it safely, I would add at least 2″ to your measurements. You’ll also probably have to consider adding a fastener of some kind like a zipper or buttons. Lastly, you’ll have to realize that the look of the garment may look different in a different type of fabric. A woven fabric may not have the flow and softness that the original designer planned for this garment and in the creation of the pattern. Also, garments made with woven fabrics usually have darts in them to give the garment shape while with knits this is usually not necessary.
