    Hi,

I just finished my pattern from the hooded cloak tutorial on youtube (https://youtu.be/UVs2EE6tgcw). I was wondering if, rather than cutting out two separate sections for the cape and then sewing them together, if one can fold the fabric in half and use the fold as the back center and use have one large piece? I think the cape itself would be fine, but I’m wondering if that somehow screws up the neck area…I just thought it would be nice to eliminate the center back seam and reduce the amount of sewing necessary.

    Thanks!

Yes, if you remove the seem allowance then you can do this. Usually, it’s in two pieces because for most people the pattern is too large to get out of the fabric width.

That’s what I thought, but I just wanted to make sure before I started cutting!

    Thanks!
