I recently came upon several examples of cotton-covered polyester thread. Coats/Clark offers this as do several other mfgs. For all general sewing I’ll use Gutterman or C/C Dual Duty/XP poly. But it seems this cotton-covered stuff has an added lustre. The ‘tex’ rating runs around 40……..which is similar to the C/C XP. Just wondering if there are any advantages or drawbacks to the cotton covering? It would seem to offer the best of both worlds?

Hey Tom! If you like using the cotton covered polyester then that’s what you should use. 🙂 I guess the only disadvantage is it doesn’t seem like this thread comes in as many variety of colors as all-purpose thread. The good news is that I believe it is possible to dye a cotton covered thread, if you choose to go that route.
