I bought a lovely summer tunic. First, I realize I would be better off just making my own garment. I fell prey to how pretty it is. I’m large busted with a much smaller waist. While it fits in the top the waist area is really large. To complicate matters it has vertical stripes. I’ve tried darts which seem to distort the look. I think I must take apart the side seams and bottom hem so I can narrow the front for a better fit. The back fits fine.

Thanks for your help. I love your website.

If it were me, I’d probably redo the side seams. You can put on the top inside out, put in straight pins (parallel to the side seam) where you would like the seam to be. Mark it with a fabric marker and then sew along the line It might not follow along with the vertical stripes perfectly since your seam is more custom but it should have a better fit. Hope it works out for you.
