I feel like you answered your own question, because you said you wanted to sew for yourself. You should sew things that get you excited, that way you stay inspired. There is definitely more women’s patterns out there than men’s, but I’m definitely seeing more men become interested in sewing. Let the pattern companies know you exist and what type of things you would like to make and, maybe, if they hear from enough men, this can turn around and more men’s patterns could become available. Or if you get good enough at sewing you can start to design things that you like and want to make.
