Garments are really made better with pockets!  A better pocket is one with a closure like a zipper, so nothing will escape.  This tutorial goes through each step on creating a pocket for a fleece vest or jacket , plus the zipper is an exposed one.  What is an exposed zipper?  It means we don't try to hide that it's there and it actually becomes a design detail, revealing the zipper and the zipper tape.  If you're making something similar but it doesn't have this zippered pocket element, you can still use this tutorial as a guideline and recreate your own pocket piece and replicate this feature.
