Lengthen a Hem

Lengthen HemAs a short person, I don't run into "this garment is way too short" very often, if at all. But just as garments can be too long for me, I know there are lots of people with the opposite issue. This video will show you how to make the most from the fabric in the hem area, extending it as much as possible so you can make those garments longer for a better fit. This demonstration was done with a pair of pants but can apply to many other articles of clothing as well, the only stipulation is having a hem that has extra fabric in it. For example, it won't work with something that has a very narrow or rolled hem, and the only way to add length in those situations is to add extra fabric to the bottom which will be a noticeable alteration. But if you do have extra fabric, then you're in luck because you'll be able to add length and, from the right side, it won't be very noticeable at all.
