When I list off my great loves, (and I'm talking about non-animated loves), I have to say that my laptop is right up there, right after sewing, cooking, food and movies. Of course, I could go into a social commentary on how most of us are hopelessly addicted to our computers, but, let's be honest, most of us have no plans on breaking this habit. I know I don't. You can have my laptop when you pry it from my cold fingers. (I think I have poor circulation as my fingers are always cold.) And as much as I love my laptop, I have to admit that I do not treat it as preciously as I should. I've recently dropped it and banged up one corner pretty good. I, normally, don't keep it in a computer bag, leaving it out so that it's ready at my fingertips. The compromise to my carelessness is in creating this fun laptop sleeve.
Now, I could have just created a simple sleeve, but I have fun trying to embellish my items. One technique which I've been wanted to try is the reverse applique. I love this technique! While it seems a little bit more advanced than regular applique, it really gives the project a unique look. I like to think of it as creating a window in your fabric. You have two layers of fabric and by cutting a shape in just the top fabric, you reveal the second fabric beneath it. It creates an amazing effect and you can even experiment by doing 3 or 4 layers, if you want to go crazy. Although, you do have to be careful during the cutting process.
This laptop sleeve is made to the exact dimensions of the laptop so that it fits perfectly. I feel like I'm creating a little cozy for my laptop. With everything that my laptop offers, it's probably the least I can do and, hopefully, protect the other three corners.
