Hi I’ve been “volunteered” by my son, who plays Mr. Lawrence, to sew a fairly simple skirt and coat for Marne the mom in Little Women. The teacher sent me a bolt of cloth and a McCalls pattern M4339 Costumes, The pattern while looking fairly simple is the wrong size and has been previously cut. I need to go from a size 12 ( the largest included) to a size 16. In desperate need of some help of course this is last minute. I think a rented costume that was promised was lost. Any help or hints would be encouraged especially in the jacket pattern.
      Thank you Christine

What you want to do is pattern grading, which is taking one size and increasing the whole thing evenly to another size. Sorry, you have to go through this. We don’t have a tutorial on pattern grading yet but there’s a really good article/how to here: http://www.threadsmagazine.com/item/4368/making-sense-of-pattern-grading/page/all I hope this helps and you can get your costume done. good luck!
