Pot Holder Bias Tape

If I am lazy and just buy bias tape from the store, is it still safe to use on your pot holder tutorial? The bias tape in stores isn’t 100% cotton, but instead a poly cotton blend, and I know polyester shouldn’t be used on something that gets hot. So is it okay to use store-bought bias tape to line the outside of pot holders like you do in the tutorial?
