I have the gaping neckline problem with patterns and with store bought clothes. I am a novice so I have to guess how to fix it. I solved a store bought tee by putting a dart right in the middle. Funny thing is that it lays like it has a pleat to it and looks great. LOL On recent very simple pattern, I took darts to the right and and left at equal distances from the middle in the front and the back. Problem solved. I tried it on between the front and the back darts. Getting ready to do the same thing to a store bought dress.
