If you want to do an elastic waist, you can skip the darts. Instead your hip measurement will just extend up to the waistline. From the waistline, extend up whatever the amount you want for your elastic casing (if you want the elastic hidden in a casing) so you also don’t have to worry about doing a hip curve. So if your elastic is 1″, maybe add 1 1/2″ above the waistline to give you enough to fold over for the casing. The elastic will be based on your actual waistline measurement so that the waistline will be fitted but can be stretched out to get over your hips. Hope that helps! good luck! 😀
