When making this overdress, I made it out of suedecloth, which was actually great to work with.  Not only does it look nice and have that soft texture, but I love that it doesn't fray.  It's the ideal fabric to use for the short version of the overdress because it has that really cool hand cut hem instead of the normal finished hem.  I just love that little detail.  We also show you how to sew boning in the bodice of this dress, create ribbon loops and ties, and how to apply iron-on studs.  There was just a lot of fun components that make this costume fun and different.  It'll definitely be different than any of the other medieval costumes you'll see out there.

The best part about this costume is that the sleeves are detachable.  So one moment it can be your medieval dress costume and the next moment, I can easily remove the sleeves and it could be worn with as a modern overdress.  So you can do this pattern once and really get a twofer out of it.  Everyone can love that.
