Simplicity 2172 – Skirt finished!

I' m done with the skirt. It was quite easy, except for the pleats. The pattern called for 9 panels of knife pleats. Cutting out 9 panels, marking off pleats, sewing the panels together, hemming the panels, setting the pleats and attaching the joined panels to the skirt; WHEW, was no trivial task. I was drowning in pleats for days. Finished at last, I pressed the pleats and attached clips at the bottom just to ensure that the pleats hold. The last of this project is the bustier. TIP: Don't cut corners measuring and marking off the pleats. And, don't omit any panels. If you do, don't be surprised if your remaining pleated panels don't fit the width of your skirt. It was tedious, and many times I wanted to toss the project in a box and move on to something less taxing. Glad that I didn't.

Starting in 2009, the Professor Pincushion team had a vision of creating a sewing tutorial website in which beginners could learn and master the art of sewing. Our site launched in March of 2010 and we have since produced over a hundred sewing related tutorials that cover everything from sewing basics to fun and original projects. Regardless of the subject, we always strive to create HD quality videos that takes the viewer step by step through each process so that nothing is left out and the mystery behind learning to sew is revealed to all.
