I sewed well tried to…almost 25 years ago…and now have the interest back again. However, I only want to sew for my very young granddaughters. I just have difficulty reading patterns, especially sewing a yoke to a top. Is there any video or assistance anyone can give  on learning to sew correctly and professionally as many of the items I try get tossed straight into the garbage bin…what a waste! Much appreciated.

Welcome to our site.  I understand that you’ve been frustrated with sewing before so I hope you stick with it this time.  If you want to see how to go through a commercial pattern from beginning to end, I recommend checking out our tutorial on Simplicity 2147.  It’s a beginner project and even has a separate yoke piece.  If you’re going through a pattern and don’t understand, for example, what understitch is, you can type “understitch”  in our search bar at the top of the webpage and that blog/video should come up in the search results.  The video will give a demo on what this concept it.  We have over 150 different videos here, including a lot of fundamental concepts and full projects.  And if you can’t find what you’re looking for, just let us know, or ask about it here and we’ll do our best to help.  Good luck!
